I finally finished it this afternoon. The center of it is big enough that I will probably be able to put it over the base of my Christmas tree and use it as a tree skirt.
Here's a few more pictures of it...In the picture above I put a 7oz skein of Red Heart yarn on top of it so that you can get an idea of the dimensions.

WOW !!! Erin that is just beautiful and from a doily pattern.....who would have thought.....certainly not me.
Great Job
It's beautiful, Erin! I love the pineapples! I think you may have started something here - this looks like it would so fun to make!
Thanks Dot, Toni, and Candy!
It was so easy to do. When I started it, I thought it would be really difficult. I only had to frog it twice...kept doing too many stitches in the 3rd or 4th rounds. Once I got past that point it just grew fast.
I got the idea to do it from the pineapple shawls that I've been making from the chair back doily pattern. I figured that if I could make a shawl from a doily I could do an afghan. I didnt realize right away that I could make it into a xmas tree skirt till I laid it out on the floor to take pictures of it.
I cant wait to do another one! I have to go search out another pattern now... :)
That is just beautiful Erin ! Congrats on you completeing a successful experiment ! Way to go
